Christmas in a bite. Mince pies. Before you can eat pies, you’ve got to invest time making your mincemeat.
It keeps for years, so make more than you’ll use. And, about a month before you’ll use it. When you’re bored making pies all day long, here are some ideas to punch it up.

The Mince
Shortcrust Pastry
- 🍊 Tangerine or Mandarin (winter citrus). 2.
- 🍏 Green Apple 1.
- 🥚 Egg. 1
- 🎂 Icing sugar
Method
- Cut the tangerine and apple finely. Add to 500g of your mince to freshen it up.
- Roll out pastry and cut a pie bottom. Drop it into a greased muffin tin.
- add ~1tbsp of mince to the pie bottom.
- Cut and place pie tops.
- Mix egg and a teaspoon of milk, and brush over the top the pastry.
- Bake at 400f for ~20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Once cooled dust with icing sugar. EAT!
