Christmas in a bite. Mince pies. Before you can eat pies, you’ve got to invest time making your mincemeat.

It keeps for years, so make more than you’ll use. And, about a month before you’ll use it. When you’re bored making pies all day long, here are some ideas to punch it up.

Method

  1. Cut the tangerine and apple finely. Add to 500g of your mince to freshen it up.
  2. Roll out pastry and cut a pie bottom. Drop it into a greased muffin tin.
  3. add ~1tbsp of mince to the pie bottom.
  4. Cut and place pie tops.
  5. Mix egg and a teaspoon of milk, and brush over the top the pastry.
  6. Bake at 400f for ~20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Once cooled dust with icing sugar. EAT!
